> Something like storing weapons in a school, so they can politicize is when it gets blown up by Israel?
In reality, the UNWRA school that was being used as a weapons storage space was unoccupied and didn’t have any children or civilians near it. UNWRA found out about it themselves, the Israelis didn’t target it.
They were too busy trying to blow up schools and assembly points that were full of refugees– their homes, also weapons-free, had already been blown up by Israelis– and no weapons caches belonging to “KKKKKHAMAASSSSS”.
The Israeli rationale was “because they used one unoccupied school to store weapons, that means we’re not to blame for blowing up civilians at schools that had no weapons in them. Because KHAMASSSSS”.
Which of course isn’t a rationale at all outside of the minds of the most rabid apologists for the IDF and especially amongst the prolific haters of all things Palestinian.
> but Hamas is just as bad.
Nah. They’re maybe about a hundredth as bad, if that. They’re not without fault but it’s a drop in the water by comparison.
> Israeli and Palestinian people are brainwashed to hate each other.
Palestinians hate Israelis because of what the Israelis did, do, and continue to do to them.
Israelis hate Palestinians because “this land is for the Jews” or “they’re filthy Arabs” or otherwise because they feel that the Palestinians have no warrant to respond in any way and any kind of Palestinian reaction to Israeli action is “terrorism”.
It’s brainwashing to teach your kids and their friends that “Palestinians are incorrigibly genocidal” and “they just want to kill us for no reason”.
It’s not brainwashing to hate someone because they blew up half your neighbourhood and wiped out your extended family. And that’s just one of the more notorious examples of the sort of the thing that’s happened in the context of Gaza.
> Their individual governments and leaderships hide things from their people, trying to justify their bloody conflict. It’s disgusting.
Realistically, the ratio when it comes to blame is something like 85-90% accrued to the Israelis, and 10-15% accrued to the Palestinians.
